Why train with us?

Why train with us?

1) Leave Your Ego at the door.

We do not entertain bullies and people with bad attitudes in the acaedmy. Our goal is to create a good learning atmosphere by encouraging friendliness and helpfulness among students. As everybody is here to have fun and at the same time, get better.

2)Quality not Quantity

We strongly believe it is not how many techniques you know but how many techniques you can master. So we normally teach not more than three (unless necessary) techniques to give the students more time to absorb the fundamentals as well as finer detail, which actually makes difference between making a technique work or not.

3)Rome was not built in one day

To be really competent in the art, you have to put your time and sweat on the mat. There are no shortcuts. But it does not mean the journey is not going to be fun.

4)Belt is made just to hold your pants

Colour of your belt is just an indication of your level of efficiency on the ground and as well as your understanding of the art. People should aim for the skill that the colour represents not the belt.

5)Location, Location, Location

We are located in Orchard Road, Orchard Hotel(Opposite Forum Galleria). But it should not be the main reason to choose an academy. Highest priority should always be the atmosphere of the class and the quality of the instructions.

6)Nothing beats experience

Our instructor Jason Quek has been learning BJJ in Australia since 1998 for three years and he never stopped learning BJJ since he came back 2001. Constantly upgrading himself by going overseas or bringing great BJJ guys over to train with. Jason has trained with John B Will, Tyrone Crosse, Adam Kayoom, Dave Hart, George Sotiropoulos, Marcelo Garcia, Hector Lombard and the list really goes on (photos below). Jason took the best of each of their style and make it into his own. He has competed in the Pan Pacific, numerous No Gi Competitions in Australia and won the biggest local No Gi competition in Singapore. So he knows a thing or two about winning. And he is very passionate about sharing his immense knowledge to his students.
